While most of the country has weighed in on the party primaries, North Carolina has yet to vote. The linked article may be interesting reading for some of my out-of-state readers who are still scratching their heads wondering how a couple of unreconstructed lefties like Barry and myself are surviving life in a red state.

Stuff I did on my winter vacation
February 20th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Since most of my working life is spent with my nose in a computer, I wasn’t in much of a blogging mood this vacation (besides, the computer was usually occupied by you-know-who). I took lots of photos, though, and will try to post a few in the coming days. But here’s the cheat sheet for [...]

Stormy Monday

Having just spent a wonderful two weeks in a beach house the next island north of Ocean Isle Beach, the story of the students from South Carolinaaffected me more than those sorts of news items usually do. From the reports of the neighbors and neighboring renters, it sounds like they were not only nice kids, [...]

Another day in the Yadkin Valley
October 21st, 2007 · 3 Comments
Barry and I got up earlier than usual on Saturday, and hit the road by 7:30am for a day trip to the Yadkin Valley. The purpose of this trip was not wine-tasting (although we did a bit), but to scout the area with thoughts towards possibly buying land there some day.
We made a brief stop [...]
