I was gracious enough to let my lunchtime companion, Phil, scoop the food bloggers about the long-awaited opening of the Five Points Cafe. It was actually its second day in operation—I worked from home yesterday so I guess I missed the grand opening. Had a nice turkey sandwich, nothing fancy, although I do still have 1/2 of Phil’s bread pudding and a gift slice of pound cake from the chef.
The owner, Steve Matherly, sat with us for a bit and told us of his plans, which include not only breakfast and lunch items but a market with bins of grains, beans, etc., seafood, even a dairy case. Be still my beating heart! You mean I’ll be able to get milk for my granola right next door? What is this place, civilized or something?
