I’ve been tagged

March 25th, 2008 · 11 Comments

I’ve been tagged by Toastie.

According to Mr. Toast, the rules of the game are thus:

Post 10 random things about yourself.

Choose five people to tag and a reason you chose them and make sure to tell them.

Don’t tag the person who tagged you.

OK, here goes:

1. I have written Archie comics. If you’ve read my About Me page, this won’t come as that much of a surprise.

2. I worked at the 1984 Olympics, for ABC. It was the first time I was forced to watch a soccer game in its entirety (France vs. Brazil; I was doing the scores yet I forget who won). The view from my hotel room —I lived for 3 weeks at the Bonaventure—had a giant neon sign that read JESUS SAVES.

3. I went to charm school.

4. Names I can drop: I attended a dance class with Angela Davis, went to a party at Francis Ford Coppola’s house, worked while my boss smoked pot with Neil Young on the sofa behind me, hung out in a stairwell with Todd Rundgren, and waited online for coffee behind Joe Montana. Twice. Once at a coffee shop, once at my company, where he was shooting a commercial.

5. I like Enya.

6. I was 7th-grade spelling bee champion.

7. My confirmation name (it’s a Catholic thing) was inspired by a character on Dark Shadows, a 60’s gothic soap opera.

8. The longest day I ever worked went on for 28 hours. The longest week I ever worked was 108 hours. I pulled at least one all-nighter in every full time job I ever had since age 24.

9. I once capsized my kayak under the Golden Gate bridge.

10. I saw “Attack of the Crab Monsters” at least 7 times in my youth.

OK, here’s the tough part…who to tag…

My guess is that other Durham bloggers Phil and Lenore have already been tagged, but I’ll give it a whirl. Ditto Roger, who’s been blogging forever and has probably seen all of these blogger games 5 times over by now. That leaves Chris, whose blog is actually focused and informative and not given to silly games, and Creth, who will probably say something snarky, but that’s why we love her.

    Howdy!

Indeed your guess is right about Lenore and Phil.

Phil wants to do another round of random for himself, but since he is also thinking other random thoughts, he will instead (for now) just point you Lenore’s memesponse and also his own from (get this) last year (around the time we met!)

    Here’s Lenore: http://eronel.blogspot.com/2008/03/tagged.html

I would have guessed “Josette”. I got the 1st 40 episodes of Dark Shadows on DV for my BD. I didn’t even have it on my wish-list!

I’ve been watching DVDs of Buffy the Vampire Slayer myself lately. I guess I’ve always been a closet Goth.

We’re also anxiously awaiting arrival of the DVD box set of “The Prisoner.”

Did you go to National or do you mean The Champion at National?! I missed “effigy” in the state (AK) tournament. Damn regularly spelled word. I think a PH would be much nicer. Did you see that documentary about the spelling bee? That was painful.

I wonder if Angela Davis is nice. Mr. WLD and I argue over whether she is a good actor or not.

Didn’t get that far; just my school champion.

The Angela Davis mentioned was the Black Panther activist. She was teaching at San Francisco State when I was a student there. It was a class in African dance.

OMG I am so embarrassed about the Angela Davis thing. I knew that, I knew that.

Jeebus. I drop off the planet for a month and you tag me? Talk about yer cold coffee enema… ;)
