Stuff I did on my winter vacation

February 20th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Since most of my working life is spent with my nose in a computer, I wasn’t in much of a blogging mood this vacation (besides, the computer was usually occupied by you-know-who). I took lots of photos, though, and will try to post a few in the coming days. But here’s the cheat sheet for what I spend my time doing the last 6 days:

Walked on the beach
Ran on the beach
Watched somebody bulldozing the beach
Sat on the deck outside our room
Read the first two Harry Potter books
Worked on a needlepoint project
Ate gumbo and oysters at the Gloucester Mardi Gras
Bought a pile o’ books at the Gloucester Mardi Gras
Had a nice Valentine’s Day dinner at The Crab’s Claw in Atlantic Beach
Had oysters & beer at the above, on another day
Had a cappuchino at Taylor’s Big Mug in Beaufort while Barry blogged
Watched the film “The Ox-Bow Incident” on TCM
Took four hot baths in a part of the state not under drought restrictions
Went to the Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores
Went to the Tryon’s Palace gardens in New Bern
Did about 20 minutes of work in response to client requests
Wrote the outline of a business plan and a first-draft site map and interface design
Wrote the synopsis of a novel

…maybe I’ll flush out the latter two after I renovate my website AND my house…and start that non-profit I’ve been talking about…

“Had a cappuchino at Taylor’s Big Mug in Beaufort while Barry blogged”

On other occasions, I’d think that your “while Barry blogged” qualifier would be implicit. But I digress.

Congrats on all your leisure time fun. Wow — you read two Harry Potter books?

The first two (short) ones. I got the whole set for Christmas and had been saving them for vacation.
