Today we headed towards the other end of the island: Barry on foot on the surf side, myself via kayak along the inland waterway. Not sure exactly how far I paddled, but enough that I expect to be SORE this weekend. The skies were grey with an occasional splatter of rain, which was perfect for keeping cool. At one point I paddled up a creek that took me almost back to the main road. One of the advantages of a kayak is being able to explore narrow, shallow spaces that aren’t friendly to larger craft. At one point I was startled by an unseen but vociferous bird who seemed to be saying “Yo! I’m nestin’ here!” There were also fish, large and small, jumping all around, and crabs scuttling about at the water’s edge.
I’m sad to report, however, that Mr. Dependable beat me at Scrabble. I think he spiked my mojito and threw me off my game.
