Showers and flowers

September 19th, 2007 · 2 Comments

The wedding plans continue apace, with a lovely shower on Sunday (Thanks, Emily!) on a sunny, less-than-95 degree day. I put in the order for the flowers, which in keeping with everything else about this wedding, are non-traditional: at least they are east of Hawaii, which is where they’re being fedexed from. Mr. Dependable came home tonight with 4 bottles of sparkling wine from Italy, and a case of Chambourcin from West Bend Vineyard in Lewisville, NC. We’re still tracking down an appropriate white wine that we can get locally by the case. The toasting flutes are on their way, too. A couple of more stops squeezed in between clients, and I should be ready to kick back at the beach by the weekend.

Excellent! I suspect that the flowers will be wonderfully aromatic.

The sweet smell of fresh flowers is one of the things I love about visiting the tropics. At the wedding of one cousin in Indonesia, I think they brought an acre’s worth of flowers indoors.

I thought of getting pikake, but opted for the prettier, though less fragrant, orchids.
