50 years and a day…

September 4th, 2007 · 7 Comments

…that would be how long I’ve been rolling around on this planet.

Seemed like an auspicious entry point into the blogosphere, so here I am. The presentation of this site will be updated as I become more familiar with Wordpress and designing my own theme. I’ll be adding sundry cohorts to the blogroll as time goes on.

I’d have started posting on The Dreadful Day itself, but I was too busy enjoying myself, wine tasting in the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina (All my California friends, you can stop laughing now…some damn good wines out there, and the hotel prices are a heckuva lot nicer than in Napa. Plus, all the barbecue you can shake a pig at).

It will be a challenge to keep up on this in an already-crowded schedule, but I figure it will (a) help me keep in touch with people, since my email inboxes have become so crowded I can barely keep up with them, and (b) get me up to speed on the current batch of online community tools, for reasons which will become apparent in due time. Plus, it will (c) keep folks posted on progress as we draw closer to my long-awaited wedding to you-know-who.

And no, I have no idea what that photo is on the top of the page. Came with the blog theme. To be replaced as soon as time allows.

from the architecture, signage, and the street lamp in the left foreground, i’d say it’s lower Manhattan, near where Chinatown and Little Italy come together, possibly Grand and Mulberry.

Oh, wait, the photo changes . . .

i see, the photo changes depending on which page you’re on. Ferrara Caffe is on Grand, between Mulberry and Mott.

Happy birthday and welcome to the blogosphere!

As to which of those two events will prove more significant in the long run, I can’t say. But in any case, thanks for including me on your blogroll.

Now I shall go visit Mr. Green.

Ah, so that’s how Roger got to my blog. Cool. Happy belated birthday, and welcome to the Cabal. Just remember that with great power comes great responsibility, so you’re now free to say whatever you want. ;)
